Русская кампания 1812 г. и британское общество: "рождение" памяти о войне

Abstract

The author analyzed the role of the Britain in the Russian campaign of 1812 and the origins of the formation of British memory of this war on the basis of docu-ments from the National Archives of Great Britain. The author tries to find the answers to the following questions. How was the British public opinion of Russian campaign of 1812 formed? What role did the state policy of the British ruling circles play in this? At the beginning of the war, the British government showed no confidence in Alexander I, being not sure of Russia's serious intentions to bring the war with France to a victorious end. After the Russian victory the British government, changed its attitude in an effort to preserve and strengthen the Russian-British alliance.

Автор на основе документов Национального архива Великобритании и периодической печати проанализировала истоки образа русской кампании 1812 г. в представлении британцев. В начале войны английское правительство и политическая оппозиция проявляла недоверие к Александру I, будучи не уверенным в серьезных намерениях России довести войну с Францией до победного конца. После того как победа России все же состоялась, британское правительство, стремясь сохранить и упрочить русско-английский союз, изменило свое отношение.
