Политическая речь в космической сфере: риторический анализ публичных выступлений руководителя космического агентства: (на примере администратора NASA Дж. Брайденстайна)

Abstract

Speeches by leaders of the space sector are political by their nature and can be regarded from the politi-cal rhetorical perspective. It is especially important in view of the abundant information on space activities and its impact on public opinion in spacefaring nations and international communication. The aim of this paper is to expand the scope of stud-ies in political rhetoric to include speeches by the head of a space agency and to test the applicability of rhetorical criticism and rhetorical political analysis to such talks. The author has used two speeches by NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine and analyzed them in terms of rhetorical context and the speaker's image, logical and pathetic proof, and rhetorical effects. The analysis has shown that Jim Bridenstine's first talk to NASA employees at the agency's town hall in May 2018 and his State of NASA address in February 2020 withstand this approach.
