Преступление без наказания: (роман А. и Г. Вайнеров "Евангелие от палача")

Abstract

This work is devoted to Arkadii and Georgii Vainer's novel "Evangelie ot palacha" (1980-1984). Although this novel is typically classified as a work of popular literature, still one can find in it some elements which are uncharacteristic for a crime story and thrillers. The article discusses specifically such elements as the unconventional characteristic of a main hero or the absence of a happy ending. Unlike popular genres, the Vainers' novel does not try to 'comfort' the reader, and the crime remains unpunished. Worth mentioning is the fact that the authors focused their attention on subjects which were forbidden in the time when the novel was written.
