Abstract: Calculations of binary temperature-concentration phase diagrams were realized in terms of a statistical model that describes melting in binary systems with a limited solubility of components. Trial calculations were performed for the silver-copper and gallium-lead alloys. Good agreement with the available phase diagrams of these systems was obtained by using five phenomenological parameters, of which four describe the melting of pure components and one is determined directly from the binary diagram. For the silver-copper system, the model predicts the phenomenon of retrograde solidus on the side of copper-based solid solutions. For the gallium-lead system, the temperatures of monotectic and eutectic equilibria calculated without fine adjustment agree with the experiment within the error of their measurements.
