Abstract

Semantic color associations in different cultures have attracted the attention of researchers not once. Within the framework of a culture, a certain color has similar associations, though color associations of different peoples are usually not the same. Each color has its own typical characteristics in the collective linguistic consciousness of a concrete linguistic community. The given article analyzes two colors which can be interpreted as cultural markers (yellow and blue) with a certain cultural significance for many peoples. The purpose of the experiment consisted in the attempt to find out what images emerged in the minds of Spaniards, Ecuadorians and Americans when they were offered a stimulus in the form of the name of a color and to identify the similarities and differences between these images. The images were identified via a free associative experiment and analyzed according to the associative field zones.

В данной статье были проанализированы два цвета, которые можно назвать культурными маркерами (желтый и синий), имеющие важное культурное значение для многих народов.
