Abstract:	The article focuses on the theory of diachronic and synchronic historicalliterary systems. It proves that a semantic basis of the change of cultural types is the opposition between Cosmos and Chaos as two mega-models of the universe. The article depicts the cycle-generating mechanisms and observes the dynamics of literary systems. The author puts forward a hypothesis about the XX century as a transitionalepoch in the historical evolution of literature.
