Abstract

The article proves that the determination of the specificity of modern literature may gain currency with reference to the so-called “Double” texts (remakes, retellings, adaptations, sequels, comics etc.). Genre research in contemporary literature is to a great extent connected to play with the classical heritage. This is obvious in the variety of examples of playing with the texts by A. Pushkin, N. Gogol, F. Dostoyevsky etc. The author's play with the classical text demands certain knowledge from the reader. For this reason, there arises a question about the appropriateness of these publishing projects.
