Abstract: The main goal of the modern school is the effectiveness of training. This goal is achieved through a change in the content of the whole activity of both the pupil and the teacher. The teacher's attention is focused on the process of new pedagogical technologies introduction such as application of unconventional forms and elements of training (travel to the land of fairy tale), as well as introduction of integrated lessons (combination of teaching literature and English). Unconventional forms of work allow increasing the intellectual activity of students. The introduction of elements of integration into training contributes to the formation of generalized knowledge and skills. One of the productive methods that actively acquaint students with knowledge is studying fairy tales at English lessons. The given article describes specific features of teaching a foreign language at a secondary school using fairy tales of international character. Studying fairy tales at English lessons helps connect the elements of literary and linguistic analysis. The integration of fairy tales into a foreign language lesson makes it possible to analyze different types of speech activities which have to be learned at English lessons. By way of example, the article contains a flow chart of the lesson which was held in the fifth form of a secondary school.
